Job Summary CenterPoint Energy is looking for a
Senior Business Analyst or Business Analyst to join our
Quality Compliance Team , located in
Houston, TX or Evansville, IN .
You will have the ability to:
define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new and existing system applications and software tools in support of the achievement of business requirements. This role will leverage knowledge of systems, organizational structure, regulatory requirements, and statistical expertise t o develop data sets and reporting, maintain and improve the quality of data, and perform data analysis. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert to acquire, develop, and execute on business requirements and to research and develop responses for technical inquiries. They will identify and communicate potential areas for improvement. This role requires analytical and critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Essential Functions - Support implementation and system administration of a SaaS (software as a service) solution
- Collect business requirements and analyze and develop customized solutions according to requirements and technology considerations.
- Work with stakeholders to determine requirements for ad-hoc tools and reports and translate them into a final product that creates improved service.
- Develop plans to ensure the timely completion of work requests and projects with regular communication to stakeholders to ensure solutions meet the business needs and requirements.
- Interpret data from a wide variety of data sources to prepare data sets for reporting and analysis.
- Utilize a strong understanding of database structure, data extraction and transformation, querying and retrieving data, and building data sets.
- Perform data validation and quality assurance on metric and reporting solutions to ensure accuracy.
- Use various tools, such as SQL Developer, Power BI, Tableau, Power Automate, Power Apps, to develop reports, dashboards, scorecards, or other visualizations to meet user requirements.
Essential Functions Continued - Perform research, prepare design, execute testing, identify bugs, debug, and resolve issues for system, application, or reporting changes.
- Develop and maintain relevant documentation for systems, applications, or reporting including requirements documents, standard work instructions, and data and reporting dictionaries.
- Prepare and compile benchmarking and survey information for industry or regulatory organizations.
- Interpret and explain information or train end-users and audiences who are not familiar with the subject matter.
- Proactively identify, recommend, and implement process improvements for performance gaps.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the advancement of safety and safety efforts.
- Provide training and guidance to less experienced team members.
- Demonstrate ability to maintain open, active two-way communication.
- Self-motivated and can operate with limited supervision, guidance, and direction.
Education Description - Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Data and Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, or a related field.
Experience Senior Business Analyst - Requires a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
- Use of visualization software and experience in creating complex dashboards and reports in Power BI, Tableau, Excel, etc.
- Experience with data warehousing technology such as Oracle Databases, SAP, or Google BigQuery.
- Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Strong organization, time management, and business process management skills.
Business Analyst - Requires a minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
A bonus to have - Experience interacting with employees of all levels to present technical data in a non-technical manner.
- Programming experience in languages including SQL, Python, etc.
- Experience with data analytics and data governance.
- Project management experience.
- Utility experience.
