- Prepare journal entries accurately and timely for monthly accounting close.
- Analyze account balances and prepare properly supported account reconciliations.
- Assist the Accounting Manager with monthly, quarterly, and yearly gross margin and deferred revenue analysis.
- Prepare water sourcing and other related cost analysis.
- Prepare internal reporting for various accounting departments quarterly and annually.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing data requests.
- Assist in preparation of yearly budgets and monthly forecasts.
- Assist the Accounting Manager in enhancing business processes within the department.
- Cross-train within Operational Accounting to obtain experience in various financial systems.
- Interact with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Assure adherence to applicable customer and supplier contract terms.
- Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
- Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
- Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
- Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the public.
- Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.
- Other duties as assigned or requested.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related role.
- Understanding the accounting and reporting of transactions involving the oil and gas industry is preferred.
- Must have a fundamental understanding of GAAP accounting and financial principles.
- Advanced understanding and demonstrated ability with computerized accounting systems, financial modeling, budgets, operating analysis, and management reporting.
- Familiarity and experience with Oracle and/or Synthesis software is preferred.
- Previous experience with SOX controls and processes.
- Intermediate to advanced level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook. Advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
