Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy is Hiring a Director of Philanthropy Near Leawood, KS

Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy welcomes your application for a Director of Philanthropy position at our K-12 Jewish Day School, located in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. HBHA is a community day school with two separate Jewish Studies tracks: Matimidim, for families looking for an Orthodox approach to education, and Magshimim, which is an egalitarian, pluralistic approach to Jewish education. This position reports directly to the Head of School.

Overall Job Description/Responsibilities:

Must have strong communication, organizational, writing, & editing skills. Must multi-task, meet deadlines & supervise staff. Must work well with staff, board and donors. Professionalism and confidentiality are important. Must be available for evening and weekend work. Member of Administrative team, specifically working with Admissions, Marketing and Head of School. Grow relationships and gain a working knowledge of the Jewish community and the Greater Kansas City community.

  • Grants: write, submit, present, evaluate
  • Endowment Campaign: work with Steering Committee to plan, communicate, solicit, create/update brochure
  • Annual Campaign: Develop program, communicate, solicit, steward
  • Fundraising events: Donor meetings/receptions for head of school, VIP Day, CSA Celebration: schedule and plan
  • Supervise Senior Development Associate, who assists with all activities and responsibilities, and oversees alumni activities
  • Supervise Database Coordinator, oversee updates and reports
  • Create, edit, approve all external communications; print, email, text, social media
  • Connect to Community, Funding Organizations, Professional Development Groups, etc.

A qualified candidate:

  • Must have college degree
  • Must have strong writing, editing and communication skills
  • Must have fundraising experience
  • Must have database experience
  • Must demonstrate success at creating relationships, raising large gifts, providing stewardship
  • Must have event planning experience
  • Must be able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Must develop a working knowledge of our K-12 Jewish day school, its staff, its families and its students

Salary range: $75,000-$100,000 based on experience

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
Physical demands include dexterity for office machine/supply operation, including but not limited to computers, telephones, copy machines, facsimiles, and printers. Stooping, bending, reaching for files or supplies, and sitting or standing for extended periods is common.
