HX5 is currently recruiting for a Systems Engineer to join the team at Peterson Space Force Base, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• The CD Radar Division is a small team responsible for all aspects of operations, maintenance, and sustainment of the COBRA DANE Radar located on Shemya Island, AK.
• The team is responsible for managing over $360M through the next four years to support continuing operations of the system.
• The COBRA DANE Systems Engineer will provide critical technical support to various Government Integrated Product Teams supporting select system modernization efforts.
• Support the definition, planning, organization, network engineering and opportunity management efforts across executing CD contracts as well as for the activities associated with US Space Force Acquisitions
• Assess and manage resources in projects and project activities for Space Systems Command CD Program Office
• Participate in all engineering activities required to deliver mission critical infrastructure and ensure the highest levels of availability, performance, and security for CD data delivery
• Support engineering efforts in all aspects of project activities to include resources, requirements, and configuration management
• Review and collaborate engineering changes and coordinate with change owners and technical leads
• Identify and recommend system integration technical and programmatic details for incorporation into relevant program documentation as required, such as Performance Work Statements, Statements of Work, and Integrated Master Schedules
• Assess program design and viability from a technical perspective
• Coordinate Government activities and contractor, sub-contractor, and vendor oversight efforts throughout the system life cycle
• Provide technical and acquisition support to Government and contractor milestone reviews to assess progress, issues, and requirements traceability
• Prepare technical responses and briefings in support of System Requirements Reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, and Technical Interchange Meetings via VTC, telecom or in-person meetings
• Prepare technical agendas, slide presentations, and invite attendees
• Coordinate with the CD Program Office Leadership and Chief Engineer to evaluate the effectiveness of engineering design and engineering change processes and procedures
• Inform and advise higher-level management on critical project changes and mitigations
• Participate in the review and approval process for all Change Requests, Configuration Control Boards, Design Reviews, and Joint Engineering Review Boards
• Monitor the configuration, installation, testing and maintenance of operating systems, application software and system management tools
• Support installation, integration, testing, and maintenance of select electronics hardware, IT systems, operating systems, and Mission System support equipment
• Identify, evaluate, and provide solutions for issues in CD program office engineering processes, including design of systems, hardware, software and network upgrades, and system maintenance
• Liaise with vendors and other Prime Contractor personnel for problem resolution
• Assess Prime Contractor-provided interface control documentation
• 10 years or more experience with Phased Array Radars, Missile Defense Networks, Space Domain Awareness (Formerly Space Situational Awareness) or other related space systems
• Network Engineering Background
• Product Lifecycle Management tool experience - prefer ARAS tool familiarization
• Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) - Policy, Procedures and systems architecture
• Familiarity with interface control documentation
• Familiarity with Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)
• Familiarity with hardware engineering concepts and associated Military Standards

Salary: The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $119,600.

Education and Experience:
Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:

• • Bachelor of Science degree, in an Engineering discipline or related field of study 5 years or more experience in Phased Array Radars, Missile Defense Networks, Space Domain Awareness (Formerly Space Situational Awareness) or other related Space systems.
  • Master's degree in an Engineering discipline

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.
• This position does offer hybrid flexibility for current Colorado residents only. This is subject to change per department discretion.

Other Position Requirements:

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
• Must be able to travel, including air travel.
