Aleut Federal is seeking a Systems Engineer. The Systems Engineer will become a central part of our Engineering team. This position will support software functions, data transfers and network connectivity and ensure the system meets security requirements. The Systems Engineer will support complex issues when other IT professionals need assistance with a complex ticket. This position will develop protocols for integrating new technology while preserving system functions.

Responsibilities: 

• Analyze the system needs of the organization
• Manage and monitor CSD infrastructure and system installations, including configurations, testing and maintenance
• Implement and maintain strategies for backup, security and redundancy
• Engage regularly with upper management, provide reports on project status, activities and achievements
• Communicate with stakeholders to identify requirements and capabilities details

• Use expert-level administration and optimization of hosts and servers to ensure high availability and resource management
• Standardize and automate processes using scripting technology
• Install and configure operating systems, application/management software and hardware/networking components
• Leverage IT staff for routine tasks by clearly documenting design, maintenance, and support procedures
• Test all approved and provisioned software routinely for bugs, failovers, resiliency and security issues
• Conduct high-level and root-cause analysis of service interruptions and establish preventive measures

• Manages and monitors installed systems and infrastructure for the organization to be in line with customer guidelines or SOP (standard operating procedure)
• Define customer needs and functionality in a service development cycle
• Assist in the coordination of various teams testing and evaluating for the development of design and its implementation of the best output
• Ensures the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability
• Implement warranty and support activities
• Evaluate the existing systems and provide the technical direction to IT support staff
• Plan and implement system automation as required for better efficiency
• Oversee the development of customized software and hardware requirement
• Collaborate with other professionals to ensure high quality deliverables within organization guidelines, policies, and procedures
• Work processes, optimization methods, and risk management tools in the given projects for the successful accomplishments according to the requirements of the stakeholders
• Maintain system security on the computers and the network equipment
• Assign and update security permissions for the system network
• Perform necessary upgrades and repairs
• Support planning and requirements meetings with IT staff, program manager and customers as required
• Review/reset priorities to address the client mission and high priority initiatives
• Train or direct users on the correct use of software and hardware
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and quality assurance for team members

Requirements:

• Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
• At a minimum, certifications in CompTIA Network and CompTIA Security
• A bachelor’s in a computer related discipline with a concentration in System Administration or Network Administration.
• At least five (5) years of relevant experience (bachelor’s degree may be used towards experience)
• Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems (Solaris, Windows, Linux), current IT networking/infrastructure equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, system performance-monitoring tools, active directories, virtualization, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching

• Experience in project management, application design and integration, and cloud computing
• Expertise in creating, analyzing, troubleshooting and repairing large-scale distributed systems & Networks

• At least four (4) years of government contracting or equivalent experience.
• Ability to problem solve and think critically
• Attention to detail, good communication skills, good project management skills

Preferred:

• Military and/or government experience a plus
• A master’s degree in a computer related discipline with a concentration in System Administration or Network Administration
• ITIL certification a plus
• Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), CCNA, CCNP or Cloud experience a plus
• ServiceNow experience
• Zero Trust Foundational Knowledge or Zero Trust Certificate/Certification

Salary Range: $90K-$125K
