Humane Society of Harrisburg Area is Hiring a Practice Manager Near Harrisburg, PA

The Practice Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day functions of the Veterinary Resource Center (“VRC”), including managing the veterinary support staff and performing inventory and record keeping duties to ensure the continued efficient operation of the clinic. The Practice Manager is a key employee that directly affects the operations of the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area (“HSHA”) and contributes to the organization’s overall mission.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES

Customer Service

  • Responsible for providing excellent customer service to clients, staff, shelter volunteers and donors, and all persons the staff member comes into contact with.
  • Promotes HSHA and the VRC in a positive and professional manner.
  • Treats others with compassion and respect.
  • Creates a positive work environment by limiting negativity and being a team player.
  • Takes a proactive approach to problem solving.

Management

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the clinic. This includes, but is not limited to, managing staff, serving clients, and overseeing the scheduling of clients/veterinary procedures.
  • Manage workflow to create efficiencies.
  • Identify and solve problems proactively; make decisions using critical thinking skills.
  • Provide the best possible humane care for all animals in our custody. Provide services to animals quickly and efficiently.
  • Maintain pharmacy, controlled substance, and general medical supply inventory and order as necessary under established protocols and procedures.
  • Perform account coding of veterinary invoices.
  • Create, maintain and organize veterinary records.
  • Oversee and manage client drop-off and check-out/discharge.
  • Manage the customer service experience to ensure continued clinic growth and success.
  • Maintain veterinary equipment.
  • Create staff schedules to ensure efficient coverage; monitor timekeeping.
  • Provide both positive and constructive feedback to staff on a regular basis to encourage employee growth and success.
  • De-escalate situations when needed. Make decisions that reduce liability.
  • Manage the HSHA low-cost vaccination clinics.
  • This position may be asked to perform any of the duties and responsibilities of the Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Practice Manager position is a management level position. Staff in this position should have the below or a combination or equivalent of the below.

  • CVT Preferred
  • And/or have at least 2 years of experience working in an animal shelter or veterinary clinic
  • Prior Management Experience Preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to bend, kneel and stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to multitask in high-pressure situations.
  • Work in loud environments on hard surfaces.
