Coperion is seeking a talented Process Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX. As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support on process design for material handling systems and extrusion additive feed systems. This is a high criticality, high impact role that plays an integral part in adding to our new and existing project portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess the engineering subject matter expertise to provide counsel on the design of plant systems, while also having the interpersonal savvy to interface with a to a variety of internal and external stakeholder groups

Major Responsibilities:

• Conceptualize, develop and design plant systems
• Create process flow diagrams
• Determine and select sizing of pneumatic conveying systems, machines, apparatuses and components.
• Prepare and execute technical risk assessments.
• Provide subject matter expertise to sales, service, project teams and other internal stakeholders on process technology and related engineering topics.
• Support on-site engineers and other customer contacts with start-up and troubleshooting
• Provide assistance with plant analysis for modification and optimization projects 

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering required, with 5 years of professional engineering experience
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to ensure that the customer demand is met
• Willingness to travel within US and globally, up to 25% of the time, sometimes on short notice
• Ability to climb heights of up to approx. 150 meters (via ladder or stairs) as needed. 

• Deep understanding the following concepts:
  • Dry bulk solids handling 
  • Gas flow theory in pipes
  • Physics of humid air
  • Pipe routing and engineering in pneumatic conveying systems
  • Process-related functioning of dry bulk solids plants

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Mechanical Engineer strongly preferred
• Knowledge or experience of extruders or extrusion processes 

Knowledge & Skills:

• Solution orientated and analytical solution-oriented ability to think. 
• Strong Communication skills 
• Dependable, quick learner and team player
