Howard University Hospital is Hiring a LAN Technician Manager Near Washington, DC

Howard University Hospital is the nation’s only teaching hospital located on the campus of a Historically Black University and has created a superior learning environment, with groundbreaking research and positive patient outcomes.Howard University Hospital seeks to hire a LAN Technician Manager who leads a team of on-site support operations staff. The incumbent serves as the single point of contact for all on-site support operations. This role manages the daily support responsibilities for the LAN team with time and attendance requirements, request fulfillments, incident management and access management, related process workflows. The role will primarily serve as escalation support for the service desk and other LAN Tech I and II positions. The candidate will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via email) in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user assistance where required.
The LAN Technician will: 
  • Implement and support processes specific to daily workflow of the team. This includes, but not limited to, rounding of hospital and business service lines, managing resource allocation activities, process auditing and improvement, etc,. Follow the AHC Standard Management Approach in measuring and reporting on key performance indicators relative to support areas and processes;
  • Provide Service Operations response and support for all requests, incidents and access related efforts performed on site at any of the organization’s locations. Assist with the installation, configuration, upgrade, and overall provide day-to-day administration and support required for the AHC compute environment. Conducts site surveys; assesses and document current site equipment, configurations and user requirements. Support the administration and configuration of end point devices to include laptops, tablets, desktops, peripherals, and clinical devices.
    Provide availability to support project-based implementations.
  • Work with end users and other support staff to configure, troubleshoot and maintain access related issues. Complete necessary internal reporting and reports status to various levels of management and client representatives.
  • Assist with requirements data gathering and analysis, as needed, and with planning and design end point device workflows
  • Facilitate conversations across AHC employees, vendors and other support teams while implementing or upgrading devices and software. Follow change and release management processes. Work with the Project Management Office on device refresh and general device deployment activities. Follow standard operating procedures in the implementation and transition of software and hardware deployments.
  • Participate in reviewing vendor solutions to address end point devices requirements of the business and clinical departments and in the creation of detailed work breakdown structures for the implementation of automated and manual provisioning configurations.
  • Provide expertise to identify and translate end point workflow into configuration requirements
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area. ​​​​​​
Qualified Candidates will possess:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science or information technology is preferred
  • Seven (7) years of experience supporting workstations, peripherals and general end point devices in an enterprise environment
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience
  • A Certification
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and be on call after hours
