How you’ll make an impact:

As part the Washington DC Uplink Network Operations Center you will be managing the satellite uplinks, and configuration parameters for all SiriusXM satellite audio and data services. As part of the larger Enterprise Operations Team, you will be part of the largest audio entertainment company providing world class service to millions of subscribers

What you’ll do:

Responsible for monitoring and operations of SiriusXM uplink broadcast services and facilities. This includes verifying proper audio and data channel configuration and content for all music, talk and sports channels on all platforms as well as internal and external data services which are broadcast to SiriusXM receivers. Follow standard operating procedures, open incident tickets, and escalate as necessary for all issues. Work with various stakeholders in a cross functional environment for correcting or reestablish services to minimize subscriber issues. Also responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating NOC processes and procedures to ensure the best possible listening experience in a constantly evolving environment.

What you’ll need:

• Associate degree in electronics or equivalent related degree; military training or equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree

• At least three years of experience in one or more of the following areas: IP communications network operations; RF system operations; Systems Administration, anomaly resolution or a combination thereof

• Strong knowledge of Linux environment and networking software, hardware, networking protocols and operational requirements and troubleshooting

• Familiarity with digital network signaling standards, routing, encoding, encryption, multiplexing, modulation and transmission

• Ability to read schematics, engineering diagrams, and other data flow diagrams

• Able to support a 24-hour/7-day facility; able to work holidays, weekends, and occasional overtime. This is a fixed shift position, but subject to change based on operational requirements

• Understanding of TCP/IP, QOS, and serial telecommunications protocols

• Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels

• Excellent public speaking, presentation, written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

• Ability to pay attention to detail and be organized

• Ability to project professionalism over the phone and in person

• Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects

• Spelling, grammar, proofreading and editing skills

• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus

• Network certification preferred

• A certification preferred.

• Must be able to lift 50 lb

• This position requires the use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
