House of Spices (HOS) is a deeply rooted brand within the food industry, leading the specialty food and ingredient category for over 50 years. Fast-forward from its start as a homegrown family business, House of Spices has become a middle-market wholesale/manufacturer which includes multiple distribution networks across the country. Although the business has and continues to expand rapidly, the brand is still family-owned and home-based out of the NYC metro area. We are looking for talented individuals to join our ACARE culture!

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Employee Relations Specialist who will be a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills and a proven track record in managing employee relations effectively. As the Employee Relations Manager, you will play a key role in fostering a positive work environment, resolving conflicts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement employee relations strategies and initiatives to promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management and employees on all matters related to employee relations, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Investigate and resolve employee complaints, grievances, and concerns in a fair and timely manner, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Provide guidance and training to managers and supervisors on best practices for handling employee relations issues and promoting a respectful and productive work environment.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and other stakeholders to identify trends, anticipate potential issues, and develop proactive solutions to enhance employee engagement and morale.
  • Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into allegations of misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and other violations of company policies or regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations records and documentation, ensuring compliance with data protection laws and regulations.
  • Stay informed about relevant employment laws, regulations, and industry trends, and proactively recommend updates to company policies and procedures as needed.
  • Partner with legal counsel as necessary to mitigate legal risks and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Represent the company in mediation, arbitration, and other legal proceedings related to employee relations matters.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in employee relations, HR management, or a related field, preferably in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices, with the ability to apply them effectively in a corporate setting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
