 The Vice President of Human Resources – Greenwood Hospitality Portfolio can be based out of our Atlanta, GA Corporate office, or Remote (must reside in a major metropolitan city) The salary compensation will be based on experience.

Position Summary:

The Vice President of Human Resources – Greenwood Hospitality Portfolio provides executive-level leadership and guidance to the organization’s HR operations for all of the Greenwood Hospitality Portfolio. The Vice President of Human Resources – Greenwood Hospitality Portfolio is responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities for Hotel Property based HR Leaders within the Greenwood Portfolio and will serve as a coach and mentor for General Managers, Director of Sales, and above property leadership.

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains management-level HR staff. 
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with executive leadership to define Greenwood Hospitality’s long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support this mission through talent management.
  • Provides liaison and consulting services to all levels of management and employees, interpreting and defining Human Resources policies and procedures to ensure/enforce compliance for hotels.
  • Researches, develops, and implements competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource management team; assists with resolution of human resources, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues.
  • Ensures compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management.
  • Analyzes and reviews statistical data and reports to identify and determine causes of turnover and retention within the workforce, and develops recommendations/improvements to management, as well as improvements to employment policies, processes, and practices.
  • Works with management to identify current and future weaknesses and strengths; problems and concerns; job satisfaction and productivity.
  • Works with all levels of management on-site to ensure organizational competence and performance management.
  • Advises and recommends to all levels of management appropriate compensation actions/adjustments to attract, retain, and motivate employees.
  • Responsible for documentation and disciplinary action training for managers and employees.
  • Coach and advise management on Work Environment issues.
  • Key escalation points for employee relation issues. (e.g. progressive discipline issues)
  • Participate in resolution of serious grievances surfaced by any site.
  • Assist with research and preparation on any pending legal action and or third -party lawsuits as needed. 
  • Support new hotels and exiting hotel transition activities through the due diligence and integration processes.
  • Reviews adherence to State and Federal Wage and Hour Law/Fair Labor Standards Act and other legal requirements.
  • Provides staffing updates, assists in obtaining approvals for hiring exceptions, and provides applicant eligibility and rehire status.
  • Will work closely with onsite HR Leaders to develop staffing strategies to recruit qualified candidates. 
  • Conducts impromptu one-on-one training as needed during site visits.
  • Remains current with new labor legislation, court decisions and government regulations to keep abreast of legal developments.
  • Assist in administering compensation and recognition programs including bonus and merit.
  • Assist Onsite HR Leaders with escalated payroll matters, benefits, 401k, unemployment.
  • Understand the business and HR’s impact on the results.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems. ADP Workforce and Paycom knowledge a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required; 
  • At least ten years of human resource management experience required, with strategic, talent management, and/or business development experience highly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of Hospitality experience with Full-Service Hotels
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Up to 50% Travel may be required.
