Hot Topic Distribution Center is Hiring a Payroll Administrator (FT) Near City of Industry, CA

We know that it’s not all about the money, but ultimately we work to get paid. Payroll is critical, but something that doesn’t get much thought until payday.
Position Overview:
  • As a Payroll Administrator, you’ll maintain time records, auditing payroll results, and processing manual/off cycle checks.
  • This role operates on a hybrid schedule and will require to work from our HQ located in the City of Industry, CA two days a week.
  • Pay range is $21.60/hr - $24/hr.
Please note the pay range for this position starts as listed in the job posting, but other factors such as an individual’s education, location, meeting the minimum job requirements for the role, training and experience, will determine the final salary for potential new hires.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Responsible for the preparation of data for processing our bi-weekly payroll. Review and ensure accuracy of time records, track and deduct all wage orders, and other special payroll deductions.
  • Ensures timely processing of all payroll transactions in accordance with labor standards and requirements, and company policy.
  • Coordinate efforts between payroll, human resources, and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data.
  • Research and resolving payroll discrepancies and answering any employee payroll queries.
  • Help research and resolve payroll related issues.
  • Process wage garnishments, pay levies, and other involuntary court ordered payments in a timely manner.
  • Stay up to date with current payroll laws associated with processing employee wage data, including payroll taxes, employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and other required reporting.
  •  Maintain HRIS information on a current basis making sure to input changes received from HR promptly and accurately.
  • Active participation in process improvement efforts.
  • Process manual entries, stop payments, refunds, termination pay.• Run and disperse various reports such as: Separation log, PTO log, Sales Audit, Headcount, etc.
  • Clerical duties: process and distribute daily mail, scan garnishment and tax notifications, maintain daily/weekly company email notifications
  • Other duties assigned as necessary
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • 2-3 years payroll experience
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Ability to adapt to fast paced environment
  • Pleasant personality with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to work independently, as well as with a team.
  • Ability to work to high standards of accuracy
