QUALIFICATIONS

DESCRIPTION

The Elementary School Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to elementary students across multiple subject areas. This role plays a crucial part in fostering academic growth, social development, and lifelong learning skills in students. Additionally, the teacher may collaborate with other educators, attend department meetings, and participate in school-related events and exhibitions as part of their responsibilities.

GENERAL DUTIES (May not include all duties performed)

  • Develop and implement engaging and differentiated lesson plans that align with state standards and educational objectives.
  • Teach a variety of subjects, including English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, using a variety of instructional strategies and resources.
  • Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, and use data to inform instruction and provide targeted support.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active participation, collaboration, and critical thinking.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively, establish routines, and reinforce positive behavior expectations.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, academic goals, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement interdisciplinary units, team-teaching opportunities, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills, stay current with educational trends, and contribute to ongoing school improvement efforts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION

Work is performed under the direct supervision of the School Principal.

WORK CONDITIONS

The duties are primarily carried out within the school setting. The role involves performing professional tasks that offer support and consultation for the assigned department or program. This work often entails frequent standing, sitting, walking, and light lifting. Certain assignments may have deadlines as they involve customizing and delivering programs to cater to diverse groups' needs. Additionally, employees may be called upon to provide emergency and non-emergency health-related services for students as required.
