SummaryThis position provides general HR assistance and administrative support within the Human Resources department. The position serves as the first point of contact for the HR Service Desk and responds to general HR questions and make appropriate referrals. This position supports Human Resources' commitment to excellent service, while maintaining confidentiality and discretion. Essential FunctionsThe following responsibilities represent the essential functions of the position. An employee in this classification is responsible for carrying out the following functions: 1. Manage incoming calls and inquiries for the HR Service Desk 2. Complete employment verifications and respond to EDD inquiries3. Database management, including data tracking & notices4. Processing of new hires, terminations, and employment actions5. Processing of background checks6. Coordinates orientation and training sessions7. Maintains proper records in alignment with record retention policy8. Assists with job postings and advertising placement9. Assigns and track safety & compliance trainings10. Develop reports as requested 11. Management of driver’s program & pull notices12. Creation and/or distribution of employee notice letters and HR forms13. Assistance with internal auditing and preparation for external audits14. Provides administrative support to the Director & VP of HR15. General administrative duties, including filing and meeting minutes16. Provides assistance with event planning & schedule management17. May perform other duties or support special projects as assignedQualifications 1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field or equivalent combination of experience and/or education required2. 1 years of relevant experience preferred 3. HR certification preferred4. Experience working for a nonprofit preferredRequired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities1. Proficient in Microsoft Office2. Experience working with an ATS and HRIS system preferred3. Knowledge of State and Federal employment laws and practices.4. Ability to build strong working relationships and contribute to an inclusive environment5. Ability to use good judgement and discretion6. Ability to interact effectively with individuals, teams, and diverse populations7. Excellent oral and written communication skills8. Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality9. Ability to analyze data and produce reports10. Ability to remain calm and assist others during stressful situationsEnvironmental ConditionsAn enclosed office environment. Time spent sitting, using a computer station, periods of intense concentration, using the telephone, computer and performing paperwork. Time spent in meetings, travel to various work site locations throughout three counties. Some exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
