Position Overview:
This position reports to the Senior Director and is responsible for providing intervention and support for households at risk of experiencing housing instability
Key Responsibilities:
· Treats all program participants with respect in a non-judgmental, trauma-informed approach and cultural competency
· Uses risk screening tools to assess current level of housing need and crisis; Maintains all related screenings, documents, data collected in client files according to HFF standards
· Provides intervention and support proportional to current need for households who have higher risk and vulnerability
· Uses housing problem solving as first intervention using strength-based approach with client
· Connects client to self-identified resources or connections that can reduce risk and support housing stabilization
· Provides access to resources and supports (food pantry, childcare, community mediation, legal aid, etc.) that may have an impact on housing stabilization
· Refers client for emergency rental assistance (ERA) when appropriate or necessary to stabilize client in eviction prevention approach
· Coordinates access to flexible funds when available and appropriate for housing stabilization, consistent with eligibility and prioritization criteria for flexible funds
· Works within the Stable Housing Networkto both accept referrals from and make referrals to prevention partners when necessary
· Works closely with other Stable Housing Networkpartners, including other Housing Resource Specialists and CSB’s Homelessness Prevention Network Manager
· Provides housing resource information and navigational support for clients as well as other staff at the agency
· Enters data on clients served in program into Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) accurately and timely
Qualifications:
· Congruence with agency mission and values required
· Case Management experience working with homeless populations preferred
· Extensive knowledge of community agencies and resources Columbus/Central Ohio preferred
· Working knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care and Cultural Competency required
· Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the following areas required:
o Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
· Knowledge of federal, state, and local public policies, regulations, and guidelines relative to homelessness, affordable housing and education.
· Valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, ability to drive an agency vehicle, and ability to pass a criminal background check required
· Physical ability to lift and carry file boxes and supplies up to 25 lbs. occasionally required
· Ability to obtain HMIS user license
