POSITION SUMMARY

The IT Infrastructure Support Specialist is part of a team that is responsible for designing, engineering, implementing, and maintaining solutions that support faculty, staff, students, and the Holland Hall community’s technology use. This position focuses on providing an excellent End User experience.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify current practices that can be improved with proper technology use or new solution/implementation.

  • Participate in solution design.

  • Implement the technology portion of the designed solution.

  • Provide training to end users as required.

  • Support with on-going maintenance/upgrades of systems

  • Provide “triage” to end users when appropriate to assist other technology team members.

  • Current examples of supported implementation include:

    • Visitor System

    • Phone System

    • Emergency Systems

    • Printers

    • Display Devices

    • Help Desk

    • Others

The IT Infrastructure Support Specialist needs to be able to carry out complex technical evaluations and suggest proposed solutions that maximize the use of current tools and/or suggest new tools that integrate well with current systems and will help fulfill the mission of the school.

  • High school diploma, trade school degree, or appropriate certifications. College degree a plus.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position or equivalent training and experience.

  • Must already be familiar with using and supporting Apple products - iPad and Mac.

  • Must be able to keep confidentiality of the data that will be seen throughout the normal duties of this position.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with constituents from the entire school community.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and define problems and recommend or implement appropriate solutions. Must have a sense of urgency and customer service orientation.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in hardware and software specific to the school.

  • Experience with Mobile Device Management and/or a Computer Management System a plus.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Department hours are 8:00 to 4:30 with 30 minutes for lunch, however, the time required to perform this job may extend to hours outside department hours to include evenings and occasionally weekends.

  • Primarily works indoors in standard office conditions and climate.

  • Activities include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual activity. The work is performed primarily indoors.

  • Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.

  • Crawl under or around furniture to install computer equipment.

  • Climb ladders and reach to install equipment and perform other tasks.

  • Works in a stressful but supportive environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
