hntb is Hiring a Construction Office Engineer Near Bellevue, WA

What We're Looking For We are currently seeking Office Engineers in our Seattle, Washington office to continue to grow our Pacific Northwest Construction Services practice. We are looking for detail-oriented, organized, self-starters with at least 4 years’ construction management experience on public works projects. Preferred experience includes change management and estimating. Experience working with the City of Seattle, Sound Transit, and/or other local agencies is highly desirable. Essential Responsibilities: Assists and acts as when needed, the Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager in the administration of the construction contract. Provides interpretation of contract plans and specifications and reviews contractor's shop drawings and submittals for contract compliance, as applicable. Maintains as-built record drawings, project files, and records database including specifications, test results and reports. Keeps inspector's daily report of assigned work activities. Performs reviews for approval of contractor's monthly schedule submittals and pay estimates. Assists in project administration by monitoring internal project controls and claims documentation. Reviews schedules and facilitates resolution in problem situations. Responsible for logging, tracking, and processing requests for information, submittals, change orders, and other project deliverables. Reviews inspector's daily reports for conformance with the project requirements, plans, specifications, quantities, contractor's progress, and as-constructed data. Reviews, assembles, and processes the monthly progress payments. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years relevant experience. Master's degree in Engineering and 3 years relevant experience. Doctorate degree in Engineering and 2 years relevant experience. Competencies: Identifies complex discrepancies or conflicts within documents and takes appropriate action to resolve issues. Performs advanced calculations, develops plots and graphs using Excel, and drafts detailed reports for project progress reporting to the client. Provides direction on projects to less experienced staff. Performs advanced shop drawing and submittal review as well as advanced CPM schedule analysis. Ensures accountability by holding oneself and others accountable to meet commitments. Takes action on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm, independently. Communicates effectively by developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the project needs to external partners (i.e., clients, consultants, and contractors). Shows courage by stepping up to address difficult issues and saying what needs to be said. Cultivates innovation by creating new and better ways for the project to be successful and tapping resources. Uses resourcefulness by securing and deploying project resources effectively and efficiently. Drives results by consistently accomplishing tasks independently, even under tough circumstances.
