Hilo Medical Center is Hiring a Registered Professional Nurse III 10% FTE, Ka'u Hospital Near Hilo, HI

Job Description

SALARY: $49.86 per hour, SR-20, BU:79

We are currently seeking a Registered Professional Nurse III for our Long-Term Care facility and Critical Access Hospital at Ka’u Hospital. 

JOB DUTIES: The position will be responsible for independently developing and implementing nursing care for critical patients; provide nursing treatment and educational services to both our patients and their families; and work alongside our providers as well as ancillary staff. We offer educational opportunities such as in house ACLS, PALS, BLS, and TNCC certifications offered for no cost for our employees.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify, you must meet all the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experience is credited based on a 40-hour workweek.

EDUCATION: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor’s Degree is highly desirable.

Evidence of the appropriate training (e.g. official transcript of diploma) should be submitted with the application to be given credit for education. A legible photocopy will be accepted. However, HHSC reserves the right to request an official copy.

EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess full-time work experience as a Registered Professional Nurse for a total ofSix (6) months when the employee independently provided nursing care to patients in a clinic, hospital, or institution.

SUBSTITUTION: Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university school of nursing may be substituted for all the required experience. Submit copy of master’s degree with the application.

CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) is required one (1) month after employment. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) is preferred. Please submit copy of certification with the application. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required six (6) months after employment. 

LICENSURE: A valid State of Hawaii as a Registered Professional Nurse is required. Evidence of licensure is required with the application.

Medical Examination Requirement

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.

Shift Details

Must be available to work shifts, weekends and holidays as necessary based on hospital operations. Services are provided 24/7.
