At Hilo Medical Center, a nationally-recognized "Top Performing" hospital, the Registered Professional Nurse is a valuable member of our team. We are currently seeking a Registered Professional Nurse IV Clinical Coordinator for our busy Medical Acute Unit.
The Registered Professional Nurse IV Clinical Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Nurse Manager in coordinating and supervising the Medical Unit staff, and managing the daily operations of the unit by fulfilling the technical and clinical functions, requirements, skills and competencies of the staff. Also, serves as a resource in all clinical matters and performs other duties as assigned. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to their age specific needs, and to provide the care needed by the adult (19-64 years) and to geriatric (65 years plus) patient groups.

JOB DUTIES:
This position serves as an assistant to the nurse manager in providing nursing care and treatment services for the unit and assists in managing the daily operations of the unit. This position assists with supervisory responsibilities over all shifts in the unit. May be involved in planning and supervising health care programs and operations; and performs other related duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. While not required, graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelors Degree with emphasis on critical care nursing and/or administration is highly desirable.
Evidence of the appropriate training (e.g. official transcript of diploma) should be submitted with the application to be given credit for education. A legible photocopy will be accepted. However, Hilo Medical Center reserves the right to request an official copy.
EXPERIENCE: One and one-half (1 ½) years of professional nursing work experience.
SUPERVISORY aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory or administrative capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
SUBSTITUTION: Possession of a Masters degree from an accredited college or university school of nursing may be substituted for one year of nursing experience.
CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) is required one (1) month after employment. (ACLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support is required six (6) months after employment. Completion of a Critical Care course is preferred.
LICENSURE: State of Hawaii Registered Professional Nurse. Evidence of licensure is required with the application.
