Heritage Manor is looking for an energetic ray of sunshine who provides mental, physical, spiritual and emotional support services to the Residents of Heritage Manor Senior Living by engaging them in social activities. This person must communicate well verbally and in writing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Understand and utilize residents’ likes/dislikes as well as capabilities/limitations.
2.Understand and utilize the buildings intercom system.
3.Conduct physical exercises with the Residents including but not limited to the daily exercise routine.
4.Organize and lead mental exercises.
5.Encourage resident participation in daily activities.
6.Create and execute weekly activity calendar and daily activity communication board.
7.Ensure residents’ privacy is protected at all times.
8.Understand the entertainment system and how to operate a VHS, DVD and stereo system.
9.Maintain accurate records of residents’ financial transactions when being utilized during outings.
10.Assist residents in transferring and Activities of Daily Living while on activity outings.
11.Maintain weekly and daily calendar.
12.Organize and document volunteers and hours of participation.
13.Attend all staff and management meetings.
14.Demonstrate courtesy in all interactions with residents, visitors, colleagues and supervisors.
15.Perform all other duties as assigned.
Skills required: Ability to utilize computer programs including, but not limited to Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher and photo editing software. Ability to effectively communicate and prioritize tasks, make sound decisions and show good judgment is a must. Employee must possess excellent verbal and written skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors and residents. Close attention to detail is a must with the capability to organize tasks. The ability to accept and benefit from critical review is necessary. Ability to deal with emergencies and to work in a crisis environment is requisite. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid training is required. Attendance at all facility required trainings is mandatory.
Educational Experience: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma required. Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to read, write and speak English in order to understand and carry out instructions and effectively work with staff and residents.
Essential Functions: In order to meet residents’ needs the position requires the ability to physically perform job duties and to work in the environmental conditions that require movement throughout the building. Stooping, sitting, bending, lifting, carrying, steps, as well as other physical demands may be required.
Environment: May be exposed to hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases.
