Hennepin County is Hiring a Human Services Supervisor Near UNKNOWN, MN

Description

The Housing Stability Grants area within the Human Services and Public Health (HSPH) department is seeking a Human Services Supervisor to manage a team that provides navigation and support for people at risk of housing instability. This role will provide oversight to Hennepin County’s Tenant Resource Connections (TRC)hotline and website, program partners, and the Adult Representative Services (ARS) Housing Court team. This position will operate as part of a management group that works to prevent homelessness and eviction in Hennepin County.

The Tenant Resource Connections, (TRC) supports Hennepin County residents who are at risk of eviction or homelessness through a collaborative partnership between community, non-profits, government, and higher education. The goal of the resource center is to help people maintain stability in their housing situation and avoid the “service run around” that sometimes comes with the need to access multiple community resources to ensure stability in housing. Location and hours:
This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site an average of 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours are primarily Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with flexibility in start and end times. While this position is designated as remote, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

In this position, you will:
  • Manage a team that provides navigation and support for people at risk of housing instability.
  • Manage the court navigation process and partnerships with legal entities, including Adult Representation Services (ARS) department, Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid, and Volunteer Lawyers Network.
  • Provide oversight of the tenant resource hotline, website, and partnerships.
  • Compile data reports on team outcomes and outputs using Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Support a respectful, trauma-informed, service-oriented work culture.
  • Work in partnership with the RentHelp Hennepin management team, schools, and community agencies.
Need to have:
  • Four years or more of paraprofessional experience in determining appropriate funding sources for financial assistance, performing support collection activities, and/or providing employment readiness assistance. Note: Supervisory experience in a human services setting may be substituted for up to two years of paraprofessional experience on a year for year basis.
Nice to have:
  • Experience:
    • In a supervisory or other leadership role (i.e., coach, mentor, etc.).
    • Taking lead responsibilities and delegating tasks.
    • Performing specialized tasks on a team (such as managing workflow, assigning tasks, tracking data, creating systems to improve workflow, developing reports, etc.).
    • Supporting individuals who are currently homeless or at risk of homelessness.
    • With cultural competency and working with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of housing and human services programs.
  • Ability to:
    • Motivate and develop individuals and teams.
    • Provide a creative and supportive environment that inspires staff to give enhanced service delivery.
    • Manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
