Role Description

Hebbia is looking to hire a finance professional to lead the finance function building from 0 - 1. The Finance Lead is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and work cross-functionally with leaders to provide insightful financial analyses, create robust financial models, measure meaningful KPIs, and be a strategic navigator. 

As the first finance hire, you will be responsible for building systems and processes from scratch. You will be a trusted partner within the business and to the executive team. This role will support departments to ensure we’re performing against plan and provide advisory around investments, efficiency, and growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Modeling: You will be deeply involved in learning and enhancing the company’s current models including Operating Model, Cohort Model, and Capacity Planning Model. You will be building new financial models that enable leadership to make effective decisions about the company's revenue projections, cost base, and key business drivers.
• Budgeting & Analysis: You will help drive annual and periodic budgeting processes, including preparation, review and analysis, assigning department specific budgets, and tracking monthly / quarterly actuals vs. budget. 
• Financial Processes: Develop and enhance accounting policies and workflows, and implement financial systems as necessary to support scaling.
• Financial Reporting & Operations: Oversee all bookkeeping, accounts receivable, accounts payable, treasury, internal controls, reporting and adhering to all regulatory deadlines and requirements
• Business Partnering / Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the key finance business partner to departments, assisting them in building out their models, evaluating investment cases, and leading monthly reviews of their budgets. You’ll work with Revenue Operations and functional stakeholders to collect what’s needed to bridge the full picture from funnel to sales pipeline to financial results.
• Revenue Forecasting & Targets: Develop robust revenue forecasting methodology in collaboration with Go To Market (GTM) leaders across Sales, Marketing, Partnerships, Customer Success, and Product. You’ll provide guidance on their targets and enable them to plan against gaps or double-down on upside. 
• SaaS Metrics & Benchmarking: Enhance and monitor Hebbia SaaS metrics and against industry benchmarks / scorecards to give stakeholders guidance on performance.
• Executive Presentations: Assist in developing and preparing monthly / quarterly materials and commentary for executive discussions.
• Strategic Finance: Support the executive team in preparing for any future fundraising processes, M&A activities, due diligence, and company financial strategic initiatives.
• Ad-Hoc Projects: Assist in the planning and implementation of key operational projects such as sales compensation plans, performance dashboards, P&L by dimension, metrics dictionary, etc.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred
• 6-8 years of experience in FP&A or corporate finance. Bonus if you have previous high-growth SaaS / Technology company experience
• CPA with strong understanding of accounting standards and financial principles
• Previous experience in team management / leadership within Finance
• Startup fundraising experience
• A passion for all things numbers. You are a deep analytical thinker with advanced Excel skills hunting down the financial story of what happened and why. Executives trust your recommendations
• You are familiar with systems such as Sage Intacct or NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Salesforce, Tableau – you will bring a lens of where automation is needed, help select vendors, and oversee implementation. 
• An obsession with accuracy and meticulous attention to detail. You take pride in your superpower of knowing every dollar that comes in and out of a company.
• An excellent understanding of KPIs and metrics – you can tell the story of what’s happening in the business operationally and financially. Well-versed with SaaS / Technology business models and metrics, keep up with market trends
• A highly resourceful self-starter, hungry to find and deliver on opportunities for new value-add projects, improve on your work, and seek new knowledge / resources
