The Family Support Center is Hiring a Director of Finance Near New York, NY

Description
Director of FinancePosition Summary

Responsible for the operation of the Accounting and Finance Departments of the agency. This includes overseeing and assisting the accounting staff to ensure the smooth operation of accounting, audit, budgets, payroll, and various reports due to governmental authorities, management and outside organizations as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations including payables, payroll, fixed assets, cash flow management, electronic cash transfers, reporting and forecasting.
  • Lead the timely month-end closing process and work closely with the Agencies Director of RCM and the Director of Budgeting and analysis. Assure the completion of all general ledger posting and monthly analysis.
  • Manage the annual audit and work with the outside auditors to produce reports, reconciliations, schedules, and other documents in a timely manner including the annual audit of the financial statements and pension plans, OMB Circular A133 audit of government programs, the New York State Consolidated Fiscal Report, workers compensation, and specific program audits.
  • Responsible for maintenance of a system of internal controls; ensuring compliance by all staff with fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Work with the Director of Budgeting and Analysis for preparation of agency budgets and monthly analysis of budget to actual variances.
  • Assist the auditors in preparation of IRS Form 990 and charitable registration filings for New York and New Jersey.
  • Responsible for managing the completion of the Consolidated Fiscal Report, maintaining a thorough knowledge of reimbursement rules and regulations in both New York and

New Jersey, and keeping CFS in compliance with those regulations.

  • Oversee, assist, and prepare various reports due monthly, quarterly, six monthly, and or yearly to various funding agencies.
  • Prepare periodically financial statements for the Board, banks, and bond trustees.
  • Update, add, enforce, or modify accounting policies and procedures as needed.
Education, Experience and Skills Requirements
  • Minimum requirement, BA in Accounting; Masters or CPA preferred.
  • 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in a not-for-profit organization.
  • 5 years supervisory experience
  • 5 years government funding experience preferably with OPWDD
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Salary Range

$130K-$160K
