Position Summary:

Seeking friendly and compassionate Medical Assistant to administer COVID-19 vaccines, education and to assist providers in all aspects of patient care at Heart City Health at three of our locations, Women’s Health, Simpson, and SCENIC and at community outreach events.

Essential Functions:

1. The successful candidate must maintain good relationships with patients and HCH team members.
2. Must be culturally sensitive and have a passion for serving an underserved, diverse population.
3. Clinical duties include patient screening for chief complaint, history of present illness, history including medications, and obtain patient vital signs both manually and with electronic equipment.
4. Performs lab draws, when necessary, assists with office procedures as requested/required, & schedules appointments.
5. Maintain good relationships with patients, HCH team members and community partners.
6. Adheres to Heart City Health Center’s policies and standards regarding HIPAA and other privacy issues.
7. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Excellent communication skills
2. Ability to take vitals manually
3. Have Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience and knowledge – strongly preferred
4. Excellent customer service skills and actively seeks ways to assist individuals within the scope of duties
5. Good computer skills; Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel specifically; Electronic Health Record (EHR/EMR) knowledge and exposure helpful
6. Cultural diversity awareness and skills; respects all people regardless of race, nationality, or social standing
7. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, providers, managers, patients, and vendors
8. Problem sensitivity skills; empathetic/understanding
9. Bilingual (English/Spanish) language skills are a plus

Education, Experience and Licensure:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
2. Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program required
3. Medication Assistant Certification preferred
4. 1-2 years of experience in clinical medical office environment and/or community healthcare preferred

Physical Demands:

1. Must be able to walk and/or stand for long periods of time
2. Must be able to exert light physical effort on a level surface
3. Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs.
4. Duties require frequent kneeling, bending, reaching, squatting, and twisting
5. Dexterity, mobility, and good vision, including near acuity, depth perception and accommodation necessary to perform tasks normally associated with performing job duties
