Job Description

Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager and/ or a licensed dentist this position is responsible for assisting the dentist(s) in the direct provision of dental care and treatment services. The Registered Dental Assistant also performs regular basic supportive dental procedures and functions within the scope of a registered dental assistant.

Essential duties include:

• Assists patients as authorized by the dentist or dental hygienist.
• Serves as dentist’s chair-side assistant.
• Prepares operatory for patient treatment as per Center protocols and dentist’s direction.
• Exposes and develops dental radiographs
• Maintains adequate operatory supplies
• Understands and abides by HIPAA regulations and maintains confidentiality
• Adheres to OSHA compliant uniform attire and basic personal hygiene standards per company policy.
• Monitors patient flow
• Insures the sterility of all-reusable dental instruments and equipment in accordance with Center directive and protocol.
• Performs all functions in full compliance with the Center Exposure Control Plan including but not limited to the use of Personal Protective Equipment and Universal Precautions.
• Assists with various general and administrative functions of the Center as appropriate and time permits.
• As directed by a supervisor, performs other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and programmatic goals and objectives.

Position Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• RDA Certificate
• X-ray license
• CPR
• Pit and Fissure Sealant Certification
• OSHA and Infection Control Certificate
• Graduate from accredited dental assisting program or ROP
• Bilingual Spanish/English
