Healthier Mississippi People is Hiring an Accountant Near Jackson, MS

Description

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations by applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. This position will perform general ledger account and bank statement reconciliation, assist with annual budget, and provide professional accounting services for Payroll.

Essential Duties

  • Review, approve, and prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and journal entries to ensure accuracy of postings.
  • Assist with the processing of payroll, accounts payable and other disbursements.
  • Review, reconcile, audit, and process information for the quarterly reporting of the federal tax return (941) and the annual W-2 reporting and issuance of tax forms. 
  • Ensure payroll compliance information updates have been implemented and all related systems access is current.
  • Assist with processing on-cycle, off-cycle, on-demand payments, and manual adjustments.
  • Assists with management of accounting, auditing, and budgeting within the organization.
  • Monitor the general ledger to ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter end and year-end close.
  • Reconciles accounting inaccuracies or imbalances.
  • Ensures compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable regulations.
  • Coordinates with and prepares reports.
  • Responsible for the monthly reconciliation of inter-company transactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.

Three to Five years of relevant experience in accounting.

CPA Certification (preferred).
