Healing Hope Community, Inc. is Hiring an OMHC Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Near Baltimore, MD

Healing Hope Community, Inc. (HHCI) is one of Maryland’s newest non-profit mental health organizations. HHCI prides itself in being a clinician-led organization committed to strengthening and enhancing the lives of individuals experiencing mental health challenges in the community. We aspire to be a leading non-profit mental health organization that prioritizes the needs of our clients and personnel, which ultimately places everyone in a position to be successful and thrive in their environments.

HHCI has begun its search for a PMHNP for the Outpatient Mental Health Center (OMHC) who will initially be hired as a part-time 1099 independent contractor. As the organization grows, the PMHNP will have the option to join the team full-time with benefits. This position is currently remote for as long as tele-health services are permitted by HHCI’s regulators and funding sources, but will require the contractor to report to the office (located in Baltimore, MD) as needed. This need will be determined and communicated to the contractor by the CEO.

Position Summary:

The PMHNP operates as the primary prescriber for an assigned caseload of clients within HHCI’s treatment and recovery services division. The PMHNP is responsible for utilizing evidence-based practices to assist their clients with meeting their treatment and recovery goals, and operating within the scope of their profession.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychiatric diagnostic evaluations of all newly admitted clients within 30 days of admission to the program, or earlier if needed
  • Conduct psychiatric diagnostic evaluations of all existing clients annually, or earlier if needed
  • Engage clients in recurring medication management sessions
  • Provide psycho-education to clients
  • Electronically prescribe medications, including new medications and refills, via the electronic health record
  • Complete documentation on the electronic health record, including progress notes, psychiatric evaluations, and assessments, within 24 hours of the encounter time
  • Review and sign treatment plans completed by the primary psychotherapist of mutually shared clients
  • Attend and participate in clinical treatment team meetings, including offering professional recommendations and training the team
  • Collaborate with consented external providers and internal clinic personnel, and consented individuals from the clients' support networks regarding the treatment goals of mutually shared clients
  • Participate in at least one internal committee within the organization as determined by the CEO
  • Provide coverage in the absence of other prescribers within the organization whenever needed
  • Rotate on-call prescriber responsibilities, and resolve urgent on-call matters via phone
  • Complete required trainings within established timeframes
  • Comply with all relevant standards and regulations of HHCI, the state of Maryland’s Behavioral Health Administration (BHA), The Joint Commission, HIPAA, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center

Required Qualifications:

- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

- Licensed as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner-Psychiatric Mental Health (CRNP-PMH) with the state of Maryland’s Board of Nursing for at least a year

- Certified with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)

- Maryland CDS registration

- DEA certificate

- Electronic prescribing capabilities

- A minimum of a year of treating the mental/behavioral health population as a PMHNP post-licensure

- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Access), electronic health records, and the use of computers/laptops

Preferred Qualifications:

- Strong preference for experience working within an inpatient psychiatric setting

- Strong preference for experience with individuals who are diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness, and/or dually diagnosed with mental health and substance use conditions

- 1 year of experience supervising PMHNPs/RNs

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $63.00 - $170.00 per hour

Application Question(s):

  • Are you able to offer at least 20 hours of your time to this endeavor on a weekly basis? If not, this opportunity is not a good fit for you.
  • While this position is primarily remote, are you willing and able to report to the office (located in Baltimore, MD) as needed? If not, this opportunity is not a good fit for you.
  • This is a fee-for-service role, which means that you would be compensated for each session that is held with a client. Does that meet your expectations? If not, this opportunity is not a good fit for you.
  • Initially, this position will not be able to offer 20 hours of work, and will gradually build to 20 hours. This opportunity is not a good fit for anyone who is interested in replacing current employment with this opportunity. It requires an interest in growing with the company. Is this acceptable for you? If not, this opportunity is not a good fit for you.
  • Do you feel comfortable working independently without the supervision of a psychiatrist or a more experienced PMHNP? If not, this opportunity is not a good fit for you.
