About Houston-Galveston Area Council
The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

What will I be doing?
·Respond to telephone, email, and walk-up inquiries for the Houston-Galveston Area Agency on Aging and Aging & Disability Resource Center;
·Establish rapport with the inquirer and use active listening skills and empathy to discern the presenting problem.
·Make an accurate assessment of the inquirer’s problems and needs asking relevant questions to obtain the information necessary for an accurate referral.
·Conduct initial screenings and intakes for agency programs to ensure services are provided in accordance with requirements and standards of operations;
·Connect clients to appropriate staff contacts for assistance;
·Provide information, assistance, and referral about appropriate community resources in accordance with established guidelines and standards;
·Complete data entry and reporting by established deadlines;
·Assist in conducting outreach activities;
·Support program’s mission and vision and reflect its values in day-to-day work;
·Perform all other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications
·A track record of outstanding customer service
·Knowledge of the older adult and disability population
·Must be willing to travel within a 12-county region as assigned
Do you have…
·Bachelor’s degree with an internship in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
·Less than 1 year of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties
