About Houston-Galveston Area Council

The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

We make decisions that affect our transportation system, ensure the safety and well-being of our seniors, connect people to jobs, help families recover from natural disasters, preserve water quality for our children, and so much more. What will I be doing? 

üSupport the Gulf Coast Workforce Board’s strategic vision of a market-oriented, employer-driven public workforce system that elevates the economic and human potential across the Houston-Galveston region.

üLead, organize, and inspire a growing team of experienced community engagement professionals.

üFacilitate connections and maintain professional working relationships with workforce stakeholder groups including employers, professional associations, labor unions, community-based organizations, civic leaders, and post-secondary education institutions.

üConduct outreach and participate in collaborative solutions to strengthen workforce development efforts designed to improve outcomes for individuals and employers in the region.

üProvide leadership support and technical assistance to ensure the success of Workforce Solutions contracted service providers and internal divisions.

Key Qualifications 

üExperience leading community engagement initiatives, including complex projects with multiple stakeholders and collaborative partnerships.

üAbility to manage a collaborative team of varying experience levels; manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced, high-profile work environment with tight deadlines.

üExceptional interpersonal communications and relationship-building skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams.

üKnowledge of workforce development concepts, federal and state funding guidelines, and regional service delivery strategy.

üAbility to use economic and program performance data to identify strategic opportunities and inform decision-making.

üExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading, and editing for style and tone.

üStrong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and productivity management software.
