Job Description

NOW HIRING - ASST. MAINTENANCE DIRECTOR (Guardian Flight)

The Assistant Director of Maintenance (ADOM) is responsible for supporting the Director of Maintenance (DOM) with planning and directing all department functions detailed below while performing continuous oversight ensuring maintenance is performed in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the applicable technical data, and while maintaining strict adherence to all regulatory requirements and company policies. The ADOM must possess extensive aircraft technical experience and knowledge of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (14-CFR) applicable to aircraft maintenance, alterations, and air carrier operations. The ADOM will report directly to the DOM.

Management and Oversight Functions:

Ensuring Company aircraft are maintained in accordance with the Airworthiness Standards prescribed by applicable 14-CFR Regulations and the aircraft manufacture’s technical data.

Developing and driving the overall strategic vision for the Maintenance department as well managing leadership of staff, new base openings, special support events, and other related projects with high impact on staff and resources within the department.

Continuously monitoring and revising operating policy and procedures contained in the Guardian Flight General Maintenance Manual (GMM) and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manual as necessary to ensure regulatory compliance and to enhance safety and operational efficiencies.

Performing for cross-disciplinary liaisons and creating process support systems that provide critical, timely information to operational personnel and program managers across the organization regarding aircraft status; including but not limited to scheduled maintenance forecasting, out-of-service reporting, and optimization of float aircraft utilization.

Managing new aircraft acquisitions, completion of EMS interior configurations, and the FAA conformity process adding aircraft to the Guardian Flight Air Carrier certificate.

Planning and Managing aircraft refurbishment and fleet avionics modernization programs.

Performing oversight of and administering all Maintenance department functions supporting the company Safety Management Systems (SMS) and all FAA voluntary safety reporting programs.

Performing oversight of the Regional Maintenance Managers and the management of all aircraft maintenance activities performed at field operating bases as well as at the regional depot maintenance facilities ensuring all work is performed in a safe and efficient manner.

Performing oversight and providing guidance to the Quality Assurance department personnel ensuring all department functions are executed efficiently and to a high degree of excellence.

Performing oversight and providing guidance to the Maintenance Training department ensuring all Maintenance personnel training needs are identified and addressed ensuring all technicians are properly trained and qualified for their respective duties and functions.

Qualifying all contracted maintenance support vendors and performing oversight of the vendor audit process in accordance with GMM policy and procedures.

Generating and publishing various company publications such as Alerts, Bulletins, Notices and Maintenance Memorandums communicating important information and revised or new policy and procedures.

Ensuring the proper documentation and record keeping of all maintenance and alterations performed on company aircraft in accordance with GMM policy and procedures, and applicable 14-CFR regulations.

Reviewing and approving requests for aircraft ferry permits in accordance with GMM policy and procedures, and applicable 14-CFR regulations.

Performing oversight of the MEL Management Program ensuring timely repair of deferred items in accordance with the MEL Management Program, as well as reviewing requests for and issuing approvals of repair interval extensions in accordance with GMM policy and procedures, and applicable 14-CFR regulations.

Developing and managing operating and capital budgets for all aircraft maintenance and alteration projects, and for all Maintenance department needs and activities.

Maintaining a close liaison with the FAA PMI and PAI of the CHDO to foster a productive and transparent relationship.

Overseeing the execution of all duties assigned to subordinate personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

FAA Airframe & Powerplant License; must meet the qualifications for the Director of Maintenance role as defined in 14-CFR § Part 119.71.

A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience with a 14-CFR Part 135 air carrier or Part 145 certified repair station in a maintenance management/supervisory capacity, or in a quality assurance support role.

A minimum of 10 years’ technical experience maintaining turboprop and turbojet powered airplanes.

Self-motivated and detail-oriented person with a focus on quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally. Must be able to write in a clear, grammatically correct, and concise manner communicating complex systems, processes, and other matters to all audiences.

The ability to interpret, apply, and effectively communicate complex technical data and processes associated with aircraft maintenance and alterations.

Possess strong leadership skills to include team building, motivation, conflict resolution, negotiation, and performance management.

Possess honesty, integrity, a strong work ethic, and problem-solving skills.

The ability to work effectively in a rapidly evolving and dynamic environment.

The ability to work in a team environment with an eagerness to contribute to the success of the Maintenance department and the greater Guardian Flight organization.

Must be proficient in a dynamic computerized working environment performing administrative tasks using Microsoft Office Suite programs, web-based maintenance and inventory management programs, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in aviation maintenance management or a related field of study.

FAA Airframe & Powerplant License with Inspection Authorization.

Extensive hands-on experience performing maintenance and alterations on Beechcraft King Air 90/200/300 and Pilatus PC12 series turboprop aircraft; and Learjet 45 series turbojet airplanes.

Extensive experience developing and administering policy and procedures related to the maintenance activities of a 14-CFR Part 135 Air Carrier.

Extensive experience working with FAA Aircraft Safety Inspectors in a quality assurance or maintenance management role regarding aircraft maintenance, alterations, and certificate management matters.

Experience working with RAMCO maintenance and inventory management software.

Authority:

Authorized to exercise Operational Control of all aircraft listed in Operations Specifications D085.

Designated to apply for and receive Operations Specifications per 14-CFR Part 119.

Directing subordinate personnel as necessary for executing their duties and responsibilities.

Delegating duties to any qualified subordinates, as necessary, provided that such delegation does not relieve them of their responsibility.

Hiring, adjudication of disciplinary actions, and termination of subordinate personnel.

Removing aircraft from service when it is determined the aircraft is not airworthy due to an improper maintenance procedure or for any other technical defect.

Removing aircraft from service when it is determined that an error has been committed regarding the proper documentation of maintenance or an alteration that is in violation of the policy and procedures of the GMM and/or applicable 14-CFR regulations.

Directing the removal of any suspect or unapproved aircraft components and parts from inventory and ensuring such parts are segregated to ensure they are not installed on company aircraft.

Returning aircraft to service after the performance of maintenance or an alteration in accordance with GMM policy and procedures, and applicable 14-CFR regulations.
