Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for the timely preparation of financial reporting.

This position allows for one work from home day per week after a satisfactory 90 days of employment.

The ideal candidate should have a 4-year degree in accounting or finance and 2 years of accounting experience in the real estate, construction or financial institution, working knowledge of Quickbooks preferred, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Full cycle accounting includes balance sheet support reconciliation, bank reconciliation, financial review and preparation.
• Consolidation of owner financials.
• Providing accurate and timely information for acquisitions, dispositions and loan closings
• Prepare and complete weekly check runs
• Prepare monthly billbacks, credit card and account reconciliations.
• Complete 1099 and assist with tax prep.
• Additional ad-hoc projects as needed
• Able to perform tasks with high degree of accuracy and minimal supervision
• Upbeat and positive attitude

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required
• Must have at least 2 years previous experience in accounting in real estate, construction, or financial institution
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, finance, accounting, and budgeting principles.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Must be able to effectively prioritize and successfully handle several projects simultaneously.
• Maintains a professional, calm, and kind presence in high-pressure situations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively present information to management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
• Willing and able to provide ideas and implementation plans for continual improvement
