SUMMARY

The Upper School Dean of Students oversees all non-academic aspects of the student experience in the Upper School. 

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position. Evening and weekend work is required. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach the equivalent of one yearlong course;
• Recommend and participate in the development of Upper School policies and procedures;
• Oversee and implement all disciplinary matters, including chairing the Discipline Committee and maintaining accurate student records and timely communication with relevant constituencies;
• Cultivate student experience and leadership opportunities across student life (Student Council, Boards, Affinity Groups, Clubs);
• Oversee the US Advisory program and coordinate grade level team meetings;
• Coordinate Upper School attendance policies in collaboration with the Upper School Attendance Clerk and grade level teams, including off-campus privileges for 12th-grade students;
• Maintain the schedule of and coordinate all Upper School assemblies, its calendar and location, and both internal and external speakers;
• Communicate calendars and schedules to all Upper School students;
• Develop and manage budgets for Upper School Student Experience, including clubs;
• Supervise and conduct elections for Student Council and the Arts, Athletics, and Service Boards with assistance from the Upper School Student Activities Administrator and other faculty sponsors;
• Serve as Ex Officio member of the Honor Council;
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Teaching experience, ideally in independent schools.
• Leadership training or previous experience leading a team.
