Description

SUMMARY

Greenhill School is seeking a Director of Facility Operations and Services (FOS) responsible for managing all aspects of the school’s maintenance, janitorial, landscape, and transportation programs and managing the school staff responsible for these programs.

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position. Some evening and weekend work is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direction and leadership to the FOS Department of sixteen (16), including one assistant director, one project manager, and one assistant project manager, by communicating regularly on risk management and policies and procedures, maintaining consistent evaluation practices, and establishing and measuring department goals and objectives.
  • Manage building engineering operations by budgeting and overseeing supplies and repair costs, preventive maintenance workflow and work orders, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work performed by staff and third-party contractors, and supervising all building system inspections.
  • Oversee and manage outsourced landscape, custodial, and other service providers.
  • Effectively utilize the school-wide facility software to automate the work order process, monitor inventory usage, schedule preventive maintenance, and simplify facility usage scheduling.
  • Provide technical and strategic leadership to create and upkeep the preventive maintenance schedule and the Physical Plant Repairs, Replacement, and Special Maintenance (PPRRSM) multi-year plans.
  • Participate in the long-term strategic planning for the school's growth and maintenance of its facilities. Work with the COO and the Director of Operations and Logistics to manage new construction, major repairs, and remodeling projects.
  • Oversee compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including employee training on work safety regulations.
  • Work closely with the security team to review and implement school safety and security programs.

Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • Must have at least seven years of experience in an increasingly responsible facility, construction, or real estate management role.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred. 
  • Must be OSHA certified.
  • Must have experience purchasing capital items, furniture, fixtures, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Must have a caring, compassionate ability to organize, lead, and manage a diverse group of individuals with different backgrounds, education, and skill sets.
  • Must have excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and work order management systems.
  • Must have the ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing.
  • Must have solid problem-solving and business process skills.
  • Must understand and execute school operations and procedures and adapt quickly to changes and situations in a highly stressful environment.
  • Must be willing and able to perform tasks as part of the Crisis Management Team.
  • Must be able to lift equipment and materials weighing 50 pounds or more frequently; crawl, climb, twist, turn, and reach in completing various job duties; work outside in hot or cold situations for extended periods. Potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as strong odors, fumes, dust, wetness, humidity, machinery, vibrations, temperature and noise extremes, disease, pathogenic substances, and toxic/poisonous agents may exist.
  • Must be able to see colors.
