Medical Records Clerk II

Position is located in Dubuque, IA

Grand River Medical Group is seeking a Medical Records Clerk to perform clerical duties for the daily operation of the practice.

These duties include scanning and filing medical records, processing release of information requests, and entering data into electronic medical records.

The ideal candidate will have initiative and be able to perform in a fast-paced environment . They will also display self-motivation while possessing the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

As a Medical Records Clerk, you will need the ability to use office equipment such as computers, telephones, and fax and copier machines.

You will become knowledgeable of the electronic medical record program.

This is a full-time position, 35-40 hours per week, w ith no evening or weekend requirements. Typical schedule will be Monday - Friday; 8 : 30am - 5 : 00pm.

Duties include but are not limited to :

• Locate, retrieve, and process requested health information per established criteria and time frames.
• Enter lab results (i.e. blood, urine) into the electronic medical record.
• Accurately identify, evaluate and scan filing to the appropriate patient record, and to the appropriate section of the electronic medical record.
• Ensure electronic and paper records are released in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, and company policy.
• Assess requests for release of information per requirements and verify proper authorization.
• Prepare and mail correspondence letter, including request denial notifications.

Education / Experience / Skills :

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
• One to twelve months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Prior knowledge of record management and release of health information policies preferred.
