Primary Certified Medical Assistant/Nurse (RN/LPN)

Position is for the Dermatology Clinic location

Grand River Medical Group is seeking a driven Certified Medical Assistant/Nurse (LPN, RN) to work with our dermatology team. You will be very hands on in this role from assisting with biopsies, surgery, injections, drawing labs and completing the circle of dermatologic care with each patient that we see. Duties will also include triaging phone calls, prior authorizations and other job duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate would possess strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and professionalism. You will be supportive, helpful, and courtesy to all team members to provide a high-quality patient experience.

This is a full-time position, 36-40 hours per week. This position is typically 4 days per week, with no evening or weekend requirements. All nursing positions have the ability to pick up shifts at other clinic locations as desired. Grand River Medical Group's clinics are typically open from 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Prepare patients for Clinician office visit: greet and escort patient to exam room, obtain vitals, update medications and allergies in the electronic medical record. Explain procedures appropriate to visit.
• Assist the clinician with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments. Demonstrate ability to perform and assist with clinical procedures.
• Draw blood for laboratory specimens according to protocol as needed.
• Document accurately in all areas of the electronic medical record.
• Communicate to patient test results and return phone calls in a timely manner.
• Promote wellness by providing patient educational materials, communicating clinicians' advice and instructions to the patient and/or family and assess the patient and/or family understanding of the instructions and information.

Education/Experience/Skills:

• Must be a graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant, Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse program.
• One year of CMA, RN or LPN experience in a clinic setting preferred.
• Must have an active certification/license to practice in the state of Iowa.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
