With operations located in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey, Miami, Florida, and Atlanta, GA serving the Eastern United States, our solid network of sub-distributors and wholesalers augment our direct-to-retail operation, allowing coverage to the mid-western states and the West Coast.

Purpose of Job

To provide effective HR Support while achieving each company’s strategic goals. The support should be characterized by proactive facilitation of the performance management process, identification of appropriate training and development needs and initiatives, timely manpower planning and effective recruitment and selection, efficient administration of employee welfare and benefits, career planning and employee engagement programs.

key outputs/deliverables

  • Timely recruitment of suitable candidates for assigned vacant positions
  • To provide general HR support to supervisors and managers, in consultation with HR Manager
  • High level of employee engagement in keeping with GraceKennedy’s agreed standards and EE metric.
  • Properly maintained personnel records and HR systems in keeping with statutory and corporate requirements.
  • Timely and accurate submission of monthly reports
  • Timely follow through with sickness and absence related matters
  • To support the head of HR department with organisation of training across the business
  • Low staff turnover rate.
  • To implement an efficient programme of Employee Engagement initiatives

Principal Responsibilities

  • Recruit and select high quality staff, in collaboration with the respective managers, who meet the current and future needs of the company
  • Manage the on-boarding, cross-boarding and off-boarding processes including HR inductions and Exit Interviews
  • Monitor the Performance Management Process to ensure compliance and conduct performance appraisal sessions with appraisers and appraisees as required.
  • Support managers in implementing effective training and development initiatives, co-ordinate submission of training needs and interventions to address those needs, in collaboration with Corp. Office Talent Development Officer.
  • Provide support, guidance and counsel to employees on technical and career development activities.
  • Participate in the implementation of evaluation techniques to measure the effectiveness of training programmes and to enhance the contribution of learning to the achievement of company objectives.
  • Ensure all personnel related processing are effectively completed for all employees.
  • Up-Keep of I-9 documentation in files as well as I-9 binder.
  • Monthly: Workforce Report, Leavers Report, Sickness Percentages
  • Make recommendations on HR policy or procedure reviews which will enhance the quality of HR services to the organization.
  • Assist with the monitoring of compliance of HR policies within company and conduct regular audits of personnel records - electronic and hard copy.
  • Assist with monitoring staff morale and contribute through the provision of employee relations services, conflict resolution and counselling.
  • Effectively plan and execute employee engagement initiatives for the business on a monthly basis.
  • Develop and roll out effective Employee Recognition Programmes (ERP) in collaboration with the HR Manager and Department Heads.
  • Manage Short/Long Term Disability and FMLA
  • Reports Workers Compensation Claims, keep files/ records.
  • Prepare reports for Workers Compensation Audits.
  • Keep Drivers in compliance with the DOT, MVR, pre-employment, post-accident, Random examinations, etc.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S) with concentration in BA/HR or Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college and two or more years of related experience and/or training.
  • 2-3 years of Human Resources related experience.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Language Skills (Spanish/English)

  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications/ Excel and HRIS
  • Excellent organizational and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • Efficient and proactive HR support to Managers and Employees
  • Team Orientation: Willing to work with others in the pursuit of common goals and objectives.
  • Ability to maintain good relationships with co-workers and company/department heads.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, high level of confidentiality, sound time management skills, well developed listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in Payroll Administration/ Systems and Processes
  • Knowledge of multi-state labor laws
  • nowledge of wage withholding orders and garnishments
  • Ability to analyze information
  • Pleasant and professional demeanor and good human relations skills.
  • Customer-service oriented.
  • Possess a high level of drive and motivational skills.
