Background
Good Samaritan Community Services is a 501(c) 3 organization that provides comprehensive services to more than 3,500 individuals and 1,200 families in various locations in South and West Texas. Since 1939 we have focused on serving the social, educational and health equity needs of our neighbors and our mission to "actively serve as a catalyst for change, supporting youth, individuals, and families by providing excellent community services to overcome economic poverty.
We do this through a continuum of services designed to stabilize families, establish nurturing relationships, and foster self-sufficiency in those we serve through the programs and supports we provided via our Family Services and Youth and Teen Departments. Good Samaritan began as a downtown mission of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in 1939 and was established as an institution of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas in 1951 under the leadership of Bishop Everett Jones in 1951.
Position Summary
The Parent Educator implements the PAT model, emphasizing parent child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being in their work with families. Utilizing the PAT Foundational Curriculum in culturally sensitive ways, the parent educator partners, facilitates and reflects with families. Primary responsibilities include conducting home visits to meet with parents, child and family screenings, connecting families to community resources, and hosting monthly group connections.

Manages volunteers as assigned by the PAT Manager.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment, as well as clients homes and childcare classrooms.
Physical Demands
Some movement of documents and materials is required. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Weekend work may be required.
Travel
Occasional local travel is required.
Benefits and Compensation
Salary range is $16.25/hr. A competitive compensation package will be offered for this position based upon the successful candidates education, skills, and experience.
