Definition
Under direction, performs a wide variety of operational and analytical work, that supports district and Human Resources (HR) operations and strategic goals in areas including but not limited to Human Resources Information System (HRIS), classification and compensation, legal compliance and staffing. Conducts classification and compensation activities to maintain the classification and compensation structures; performs data management, reporting, and analysis work to improve operational efficiencies utilizing HRIS functionalities; assists in the development of policies, procedures, administrative regulations, and collective bargaining agreement language; performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervision
Works under the direct supervision of a Classified Administrator. Does not directly or indirectly supervise other employees but may provide work direction to lower-level classified staff, temporary, and/or student employees.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year position.
Monday-Friday: 8:00am-4:30pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities are typical of those performed by employees in this classification.
  • Performs a wide variety of operational and analytical work, that support district and HR operations and strategic goals in areas including but not limited to HR systems, classification and compensation, legal compliance and staffing
  • Conducts classification and compensation activities to maintain the classification and compensation structure which includes access to confidential information that is used in the development of management positions with respect to employer-employee relations; analyzes and prepares new and existing class descriptions to determine the appropriate classification and salary range; processes out of classification requests; calculates salary and other compensation related information.
  • Participates in or conducts salary surveys; calculates salary information; gathers and evaluates compensation data for use in salary studies.
  • Performs data management, reporting, and analysis work to improve operational efficiencies utilizing HRIS functionalities. Maintains a variety of database tables and salary schedules.
  • Assists in the development of policies, procedures, administrative regulations, and collective bargaining agreement language; recommends processes and procedures.
  • May coordinate and support other human resources activities.
  • Promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, cultural competency, and a positive work and academic environment.
  • Analyzes and interprets data; prepares, reviews, and/or approves documents and reports.
  • May direct and/or conduct surveys and special studies; may maintain statistics.
  • May participate in campus committees and task forces.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
The education, training and experience qualifications are considered likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities to perform the above essential duties.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Three (3) years of human resources experience, including at least one (1) year of experience that included classification and compensation.

  • Technical methods of data organization, collection, research, and reporting.

  • Standard office practices or procedures.
  • Standard office software and modern office equipment.
  • Standard formats for business letters and other communications.
  • Methods of filing information using alpha, numeric, and alphanumeric systems.
  • Correct use of the English language, including spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Principles and practices of customer service.
  • Business arithmetic.
Ability to:
  • Perform HR operational and analytical work.
  • Utilize HRIS and related software.
  • Analyze and implement HR operational efficiencies and procedures.
  • Calculate salary and other compensation related information.
  • Conduct classification and compensation activities.
  • Gather, compile, evaluate, and make recommendations from qualitative and quantitative data pertaining to HR operations.
  • Research, apply, and explain the laws, regulations, policies and/or procedures applicable to areas of assignment.
  • Operate a variety of office equipment including computers and printers/copiers.
  • Utilize standard office software (e.g., email, word processing, and spreadsheet software) and specialized academic database applications.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and other documents using multiple business formats.
  • Prioritize work and complete assignments accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Provide and obtain detailed information to/from others.
  • Provide customer service with a high level of sensitivity, tact and patience.
  • Exercise reasonable judgment in performing job duties.
  • Work and perform duties independently.
  • Perform and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all employees and others encountered in the course of work.
  • Demonstrate a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STANDARDS:
The following physical and mental standards are identified as necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. However, reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Mobility: frequent sitting for long periods; occasional kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, walking, and standing; frequent reaching above and below desk level.
  • Dexterity: frequent fine manipulation sufficient to operate a computer keyboard; frequent grasping to handle individual papers, write and take notes, and feel individual objects.
  • Lifting/Carrying: frequent lifting/carrying of papers, files, equipment, and materials weighing up to 10 pounds; occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual Requirements: frequent use of vision sufficient to read files, documents, and computer screens, and do close-up work.
  • Hearing/Talking: frequent hearing and speaking in person and on the telephone.
  • Emotional/Psychological Factors: frequent contact with others including extensive public contact; frequent deadlines and time-limited assignments.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
  • Work is typically performed in an indoor office or similar setting.
Additional Information
Starting salary: Step 1 $6,388 to Step 3 $7,038 per month, based on training and experience.
Salary range: Step 1 $6,388 to Step 11 $10,690 per month (including longevity steps)
