Gizmo Brew Works - Durham Taproom is Hiring a Bartender (Part-time) Near Durham, NC

Gizmo Brew Works (Durham) Taproom is hiring for a part-time bartending position. Would be scheduled 2-3 shifts/week currently with opportunities for additional shifts as we move into Winter.

MUST be available to work Monday-Friday opening shift times (11AM-5PM) and a weekend weekend shift during working hours (Primarily Sundays, Saturdays rotating 11-10PM) each week.

About the Job:
Gizmo Brew Works of Durham is searching for an awesome bartender to help build our Gizmo culture. Our taproom is fast-paced with a focus on the customer experience. We are seeking individuals with a passion for beer and their community.

Job Duties:

  • Describe our beers to customers, encourage exploration of new beer styles, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Stay informed, and share relevant information with guests, on events and news regarding Gizmo Brew Works.
  • Maintain an accurate cash drawer throughout the night and be able to account for all discrepancies in the final tally
  • Effectively perform opening and closing duties as specified.
  • Greet customers cheerfully and encouraging an atmosphere of hospitality in the taproom
  • Take beverage orders from patrons & collect money for drinks served.
  • Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol. Clean bars, work areas, tables, glasses, utensils, and bar equipment.
  • Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering transportation for intoxicated patrons.
  • Stock coolers, serve draft or bottled beer, and sell merchandise to patrons.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be 21 Years or older.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be available to work week days, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have a valid NC Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Bartending or wait staff experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge and passion for great beer and providing great service.
  • Willingness to learn about beer products and processes.
  • Work as a team within a group of diverse individuals
  • Strong judgement and professional maturity.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and push or pull 150 lbs.
  • Must be able to work efficiently in a fast-moving environment while multitasking.
  • Attention to detail & cleanliness.
  • Must enjoy working with the public in a positively, friendly manner.
  • Be able to not take yourself too seriously and have fun!

Compensation:

We expect your tips to far exceed this rate, but in the event it does not, we do guarantee a minimum hourly rate of $15/hour for our bar staff (this means Gizmo will make up the difference should you not meet this minimum rate through base pay of 2.13/hour plus tips). So far, all our staff far exceeds this rate through tips.
