Overview

Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri is currently searching for a Full-time Accounting Specialist to join the team in Overland Park, KS. The Accounting Specialist assists the CFO and Senior Accountant with all elements of the finance functions, including accounts receivable processes and reporting, accounts payable data entry and reconciliations, Council credit card coordination and reconciliations, Troop Banking transfers and cash flow management, ad hoc financial reporting for internal customers, and any other assigned functions needed in order to support the finance department. The ideal candidate will have one, or two, years of experience, high attention to detail, and experience working in accounting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Enter daily deposit of checks, process and enter cash receipts into financial system from all sources of revenue while ensuring proper coding.
• Enter invoices for processing through Accounts Payable, verify all vendors have a W-9 on file if applicable, and confirm accuracy of payment.
• Responsible for following non-sufficient funds (NSF) Check Replacement procedures.
• Assist with reconciliations and journal entries for month-end close.
• Respond to internal and external inquiries while maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Perform digital scans of items and maintain digital records in cloud-based storage for Council use and audit purposes.
• Serve as a backup for some workflows (bank reconciliations, payroll and worker compensation, credit card management, etc.) of the Senior Accountant and CFO.
• Assist with VS2 membership software reconciliation for monthly adjustments.
• Actively participate in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance, or two years of related experience.
• Experience in accounting platforms.
• Excellent attention to detail, superior organizational skills, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
• Digital, virtual and technical proficiency.
• Ability to work independently and as a team.
• Willingness to learn.
• Customer service oriented.

Working Conditions:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Operate office equipment manually.
• Requires working on in office (Overland Park, KS)
