Gibson Island Club in Anne Arundel County, Maryland seeks a dynamic individual who is a natural leader in planning and organizing all aspects of a service-driven Events and Catering Department that champions our brand and culture.

Position Overview: The Events Manager will oversee marketing, sales, forecasting, scheduling, planning, and day-of execution of both private and member events and parties. Strong planning/organizational skills and professionalism are imperative to success in this position. Internal/external events may include but are not limited to: wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, showers, luncheons, bereavement receptions, seasonal and holiday events, luncheons, and residential parties.

The Events Manager will foster strong working relationships with members, guests and new clients to strengthen repeat bookings while prospecting for new event opportunities. The incumbent will assist in promoting Club facilities and venues for multiple event functions, which will heighten awareness within the Gibson Island member-resident community. This position works closely with the Executive Chef when designing custom menus for events and when preparing the facility for banquet set-up. The Manager will also coordinate staffing support to ensure the banquet staff is hired and trained to set-up, serve, and break-down events. The Events Manager will be required to work along-side the banquet and events staff during functions and to provide hands-on support when needed.

Skills and competencies we need: This full-time salaried management position requires previous experience in meeting with clients and with events planning and execution. Strong consideration will be given to candidates who have planned and executed weddings, large scale banquets, and private parties in a wide range of venues. The incumbent must have excellent interpersonal and written skills, a knack for details, and an eye for creative flair.
