Gibson Island Club, located in Anne Arundel County, seeks a full-time Housekeeping Supervisor to assist the Housekeeping Manager with establish daily, weekly, monthly, and annual cleaning processes for the Club and Island housekeeping operations, while supervising staff to accomplish goals and objectives of the department. This position will implement established cleaning standards in housekeeping and build on current cleaning management methods while maintaining safety compliance. This supervisory position cleans and works along-side staff as part of the job. A positive attitude and leadership skills are needed for successful execution of housekeeping goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists in training and evaluating work results of housekeeping staff employees and vendors
• Participates in cleaning Cottages, Clubhouse, and other facilities where needed
• Maximizes productivity of staff when overseeing work assignments
• Implements housekeeping standard operating procedures and ensure staff is well trained in department policies and rules
• Conducts comprehensive inspections of work areas to check the completion of assignments and to ensure work performed by staff has been implemented with required detail in a consistent manner; Re-train staff when needed
• Follows established safety procedures and ensures staff is compliant with personal protective equipment
• Provide laundry cleaning service for Golf Shop, Fitness Center, Cottages, and Housekeeping, when needed
• Ensures appropriate and adequate supplies and equipment are available for work assignments
• Conducts inventory and advises Manager when supplies, amenities, and linens are needed
• Ensure buildings, common areas, and restrooms are properly cleaned and in good working condition
• Submits maintenance work orders to ensure facilities and fixtures are in proper repair
• Ensure company assets relating to the housekeeping function are protected and well maintained

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communications with management, cleaning team, vendors, and Club members/guests
• Fluent English required; ability to communicate in Spanish, preferred
• Ability to effectively implement housekeeping goals and objectives with skill to minimize excess inventory, supplies, and equipment
• Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including, weekends and holidays
• Some physical labor including ability to stand, crouch, reach, and climb to perform routine cleaning training. May be standing and walking for long periods.
• Must be able to lift and move supplies, materials, and equipment in excess of 40 lbs on occasion and in excess of 30 lbs frequently
• Must handle various cleaning solvents and chemicals. Exposed to smells and odors while using cleaning supplies. Must comply with all regulations such as OSHA, EPA, State Health Department, etc.
• Requires valid Driver's License in good standing
• Exposed to both indoor and outdoor work environment
• Other duties and responsibilities that fall within the scope of the housekeeping function.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• 1-3 years’ work experience in direct supervision of housekeeping staff
• Past housekeeping and cleaning experience, skills, and knowledge
• Working knowledge of cleaning standards and techniques
