Research Specialist 1 - Cancer Prevention and Control Program - Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center - Georgetown University Medical Center
The Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) Program is the nexus for population sciences-focused research at Georgetown Lombardi . Meritoriously reviewed by the NIH/NCI, CPC is 1 of 3 standing research programs that comprise the cancer center. Our mission is to conduct epidemiologic, behavioral, and public health-focused research on novel and innovative ways to prevent and control the spread of cancer in the US population.
Job Overview
The Research Specialist 1 performs critical responsibilities that are essential to the successful and productive functioning of the Georgetown's CPC research program.
Working with Dr. Kenneth Tercyak, they perform cancer population science research activities, along with a variety of research activities involved in planning, organizing, and conducting cancer population science research studies within the overall scope of multiple, ongoing and federally-funded grants in cancer control and prevention.
They conduct supplemental and ancillary pilot studies in cancer prevention, as well as research addressing primary aims of existing grants, to accelerate the tempo of scientific discovery and knowledge translation from bench to bedside to community.
As well, they help to plan and execute a series of studies within a larger framework of federally-funded investigations.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1 years of experience in population health research is preferred.
  • Familiarity with research database software - e.g., MS Excel, REDCap
