Gemco constructors is Hiring a Payroll Accountant Near Indianapolis, IN

GEMCO Constructors, founded in July of 2014, is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. GEMCO is a national mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building automation systems and service contractor providing comprehensive design and build solutions for its customers throughout the United States. GEMCO is coast to coast holding engineering and construction registrations, licenses, and certifications within 30 states.

Position Summary

Under supervision from the Director of Accounting, the Payroll Accountant is responsible for review of all time entered, determining overtime pay, reconciling out of pocket expenses on a biweekly schedule. The Payroll Accountant is responsible for entering new hires, pay increases and bonuses. Duties also include remitting 401K withholdings and matches, reconciling quarterly tax reporting and annual W2s.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare, record, and verify all payroll for accurate payments. This includes recording overtime hours, reassigning WC codes and balancing out of pocket expenses and allowances
  • Assist with month end closing
  • Reconcile and record 401K payments
  • Enter new hires
  • Reconcile employee advances
  • Maintain all payroll documentation and files
  • Maintain WC / GL rates
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Prefer 2 year degree or certificate in accounting/bookkeeping, however equivalent combination of education, skills and experience may be considered.
  • Must have Excel knowledge (as well as Word/Outlook)
  • Job costing experience a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Physical Demands

  • Primarily in an office environment.
  • Will be expected to travel as needed.
  • Periodic weekend or evening work is possible.
