Des Moines, IA-based restaurant group is seeking a Sous Chef able to help lead a team! The ability to work all stations, lead by example and communicate effectively in a high-volume environment is needed.The right candidate will have prior kitchen leadership experience or at least 2 years of experience in a high-volume setting in Des Moines, IA

Job Description: The Sous Chef will assist the Executive Chef in leading and directing all menu changes and updates, will be actively involved in hiring and training, and developing all BOH staff. The sous chef must have the ability to lead and direct the staff in attaining expected food and supply costs and will be responsible for all repairs and maintenance for all BOH operations. The sous chef will be a working chef, but should be an effective delegator, must be able to take responsibility for all administrative functions, and ensure compliance with the kitchen standards of operations in the absence of the Executive Chef. The Sous Chef must be well-rounded, have the ability to work with people at all levels, and be articulate in communications with staff and guests

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years current experience as a Sous Chef in a casual dining restaurant
  • Must have Sous Chef experience in establishments doing over $2 million per year in sales
  • Ability to maintain high levels of food quality, consistency, and hygiene
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Hands-on experience hiring, training, and developing hourly employees
  • Excellent work ethic and drive to succeed
  • The sous chef must have experience with inventory, ordering food, and costing out specials
