WHAT TO EXPECT
As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. Located remotely within the designated territory, Gates is looking for a Business Development Manager to oversee the Central and Western US region. In this role you will:
  • Report to the Sales Director of Strategic Accounts, and will be responsible for sales growth with our largest industrial distributor and their customers
  • Be responsible for the Central and Western US and traveling within this territory to meet with customers at all levels
  • Be responsible for collaborative work with Field Sales Management and District Sales Managers to develop and execute strategies that support the acquisition of new business
  • Build strong relationships with corporate levels of distribution that supports consumer contract business
  • Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to manage projects from concept to conversion
  • Be responsible for establishing a sales pipeline across all Gates products (Power Transmission, Hydraulics, and Industrial Hose)
  • Drive cost savings compliance within Gates field sales
  • Gain an operational understanding of key initiatives and drivers within a national consumer account and be able to match these up with Gates capabilities
Key responsibilities (to name a few):
  • Developing a sales pipeline of competitive MRO (Maintenance and Repair Operations) and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) targets that helps this Account meet its overall pipeline expectation
  • Developing strategies and tactics to target, penetrate and close competitive opportunities
  • Collaborating and coordinating with the Sales Director, Regional Sales Managers and District Sales Managers
  • Working closely with our Distributor's Corporate Account Managers to target and close National Consumer accounts
  • Working with all key internal departments to gather data and enlist support for National Accounts initiatives
  • Reaching top 'C' level contacts within large consumer accounts and key OEM's
  • Developing an understanding of competitive products, accounts and Gates unique selling proposition versus the competition
ABOUT YOU
Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree, required
  • 8 years of related experience which can include:
    • Project management
    • Data analytics
    • Presentation and communication expertise
    • Business planning
    • Sales
  • Knowledgeable about the competitive landscape/market and skilled at building a sales pipeline focused on capturing competitive market share
  • Proficient in all aspects of negotiation with National Consumer Accounts and OEM's
  • Strong strategic planning skills with proven ability to execute and close contracts
    • Ability to understand the financial implications of specific actions or commitments that would be offered to support contract business
  • Proven sales and managerial skills to grow a company's exposure with the distributor and national consumer accounts
  • Travel required within the given territory for this position is approximately 75%
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Preferred:
  • Experience working with industrial customers, preferred
  • Familiarity with Gates product lines and programs
