Gansevoort Meatpacking Hotel is looking for exprienced Host/Hostess.

Starting pay $18.00 p/h with the potential increase to $20.00 p/h after successful 90-day introductory period.

Summary of Position: Responsible for greeting guests at the door. The host/hostess seats and presents clean menus to guests in a friendly, professional and quick manner and serving of food and beverages.

Primary Functions:

• Establish and maintain standards of a 5 star service.
• Greet and seat guests, present menus to guests, inform them of daily specials and serve food and beverages..

Specific Accountabilities:

• Welcome guests in a proper manner.
• Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
• Greet incoming and departing Guests warmly with a genuine smile and eye contact; escort them to assigned dining area; present menus; announce waiter's name.
• Inform Guest of current promotion.
• Answer incoming calls to the restaurant and provide appropriate service.
• Treat all guests in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction. Always strive to exceed guests' expectations.
• Take names on a waiting list.
• Manage the flow of Guests into the Dining and Bar areas, provide accurate wait times to incoming Guests if appropriate.
• Observe tables and keep track of clean, dirty and occupied tables.
• Take guest information and quote wait times to guests accurately when tables are not immediately available.
• Clean, organize and stock menus at host area.
• Answer phone and answer questions concerning the menu and restaurant.
• Interact with guests as they arrive and as they leave the restaurant to ensure positive dining experience.
• Fill to-go orders, if applicable.
• Tend to special Guest needs and requests.
• Help dining room staff by setting and clearing tables; replenishing water; serving beverages.
• Issue dining charges by verifying orders; calculating taxes; totaling bill for to-go orders.
• Receive payments by validating credit charges; approving checks; accepting currency; calculating and issuing change for to-go orders
• Fill in for absent staff as needed.
• Assist with special events as needed.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Perform other duties as requested by Management.

• 18 years old or older.
• High school diploma or GED.
