Case Manager - DCS Data Case Manager Matsen 

Purpose

The DCS Data Case Manager for the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) provides culturally appropriate case management services towards the safe return and reunification of unaccompanied adolescent males in care. The DCS Data Case Manager interacts with the DCS for review intake and transition of youth, and ensures that legal representation is accessed for each youth when appropriate. This position tracks intake and exit paperwork, coordinates case planning and transportation, provides or obtains translation services, and ensures youth meet all immigration related court appointments and requirements. This position is flexible in responding to the cultural needs of youth and serves as the conduit between the youth, the youth’s identified family and the country of origin. The DCS Data Case Manager is responsible for maintaining, contacting, and furthering the youth’s potential reunification with family or supportive others, including those in the youth’s home country. The DCS Data Case Manager provides direct service to the youth weekly to help determine appropriate placement for youth and documents each meeting. The DCS Data Case Manager documents tracking and transition of needed services and ensures services are provided with the fewest possible barriers. The DCS Data Case Manager models a caring, healthy and secure treatment atmosphere for youth and other staff and demonstrates an interest in youth developing healthy coping skills.

Essential Duties 

  •  Maintain an assigned caseload of DCS male identifying adolescents in therapeutic staff secure treatment. This includes direct service consisting of intake interviews to assess need for service and gain appropriate information for placement and tracking for referral and reunification both on a spontaneous and scheduled basis.
  • Maintain direct contact with each assigned youth and have at least one documented, scheduled weekly meeting with each youth to discuss reunification options. Provide detailed notes in ORR data base system and UC case file for each meeting.
  • Meet with program staff weekly for goal planning, review and consultation, as appropriate, to share information on reunification and transfer.
  • In accordance with policy and procedure, organize and submit all required reports on the ORR database, UC Portal, including:
  1. Intake and Exit Paperwork
  2. Assessment and Service Plans
  3. Trafficking and Cognitive Screens
  4. Authorization for Placement
  5. Family Reunification Packet/Sponsor Background Checks
  6. Case Management notes
  7. Monthly ORR Census Report/Quarterly Narratives/Summaries as requested
  •  Plan for successful transition of youth, including the involvement of family (when appropriate), sponsors, community resources and other supports.
  • Respond to calls on an as needed basis to provide information to the staff, escort youth as needed, to placements, reunifications, or discharges.

We require: 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral sciences, human services or social service fields
  • 3 years of progressive employment experience in the aforementioned fields is preferred.
  • Child welfare, DCS/ORR, and/or case management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish with direct knowledge and experience of Spanish culture.
  • WA Driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Proof of COVID vaccination
  • Must satisfactorily pass criminal background check. 
  • Must satisfactorily pass tuberculosis (TB) test. 
  • Must have a valid Washington State driver's license. 
  • Must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth.
  • Must successfully complete the following health certification requirements within 30 days of employment: CPR, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
