FreshRealm is Hiring a HR Business Partner Near Linden, NJ

Starting pay for this job is $110,630.

Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies, and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.

Overview 

The People and Culture Business Partner (PCBP) oversees multi-site-level execution of the FreshRealm People & Culture strategy for one of our key customers. The PCBP is responsible for contributing to the development and full execution of plans, systems, policies, and processes for workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent management, employee engagement, legal compliance and recordkeeping, employee relations, and total rewards functions. This position requires a strong generalist background that is collaborative, able to work independently as well as with the P&C greater organization to ensure consistency across all sites. You must be proactive in problem-solving. Role deliverables include prompt response to all stakeholders, records administration and status management across a full employment lifecycle. As the PCBP, you will also be responsible for partnering with Operations and Supply Chain teams to help achieve and drive all business objectives and create ongoing people plans that drive the business. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

Objectives of this Role

  • Collaborates with leadership and corporate team to establish and grow locations
  • Manages recruiting of employee population, to include full cycle recruiting of hourly non exempt associates
  • Provides a of culture that builds a regional “employer of choice” reputation 
  • Acts as a single point of contact for employees and site leadership 
  • Builds a strong business relationship with the Operations and Supply Chain teams both onsite and nationally to align people practices to drive and achieve business results
  • Actively identifies gaps, proposes, and implements process improvements
  • Identify ways to increase staff retention and productivity, including implementation of activities to enhance employee engagement
  • Mitigate legal risk to the organization by partnering with People and Culture Team members to ensure consistency in action, provide proactive training and education, clear systems and processes for managing conflicts with and between employees, handling and investigating complaints of harassment/discrimination and other unjust practice allegations
  • Daily presence across the site, checking in with employees and managers on general matters, project status, employment experience
  • Coordinates with other sites P&C, Employee Health & Safety, and Security to fuel continuous improvement of people programs and processes
  • Coordinates on-boarding process for newly hired employees; ensures new hire forms and processes are completed, records are filed, systems are updated
  • Ensures new hires are trained properly in all GMP, EHS and job specific functions
  • Develops and/or administers various P&C business processes such as exit processing and temp conversions
  • Coordinates, facilitates and documents training across e-learning, and ad hoc resources
  • Partners with EHS Director with response to employee health and safety inquiries, incidents and investigations
  • Coordinates posting and information sharing around employee safety expectations, processes and training. Assists training delivery across other operations and support functions as able and necessary.
  • Familiar with handling community health challenges that affect employee or food safety, including COVID-19 site response and record-keeping
  • Partners with Elevated Resources (Temp Partner) and/or talent acquisition of upcoming and present hiring needs. Assesses operations team requests to convert temporary or contract workers and manages the hiring process when moving forward with hire.
  • Assists site audits from people team, customers, and regulatory agencies. Receives any agency inquiries with immediate referral to and consultation with the Sr. Director P&C and Director of Corporate P&C
  • Maintains confidential employment/employee relations data and records with utmost and exemplary integrity
  • Develops and coordinates with Site leadership, employee activities and events to support and strengthen the employment experience and community
  • Responds to a wide range of employee inquiries, interacting with all varieties of employees, visitors, contractors to resolve issues
  • Creates various communications to publicize upcoming employee events and programs
  • Supports administration of various compliance and employee relations programs such as unemployment claims administration, workers compensation, leave of absence, attendance, performance management, job postings
  • Manages other onsite P&C Generalist(s) and ensures their ongoing performance and development
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Experience / Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent years of experience in Human Resources or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of HR experience with full cycle recruitment experience
  • Basic business acumen and previous experience in operations a plus
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including organizational diagnosis, employee relations, leave of absence, accommodations and workers compensation administration, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT/WORK CONDITIONS

Working Conditions: Work is primarily conducted in the office and food production environment. Some work may be conducted remotely via technology. This position may require night and/or weekend work.
