Summary

Freeman is searching for an individual with strong leadership and communication skills to manage union labor for all venues in and around Chicago, to ensure good labor relations with each Collective Bargaining Unit, and to drive performance, product, and procedure improvements for our workforce.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages and supervises collective bargaining unit employees, including hiring, scheduling, performance, and ensuring quality of work.
  • Requires good understanding of all union contracts.
  • Liazons with McCormick Place on labor jurisdiction disputes.
  • Maintenance and ordering of all standard customer service branded signage.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of all Freeman policies and manages the labor to ensure adherence to company policies and standards particulary concerning: customer service, attire and attendance.
  • Ensuring all mandatory training is scheduled and completed for all union employees.
  • Manages union foremen and their schedules for all scheduled events.
  • Consults with the Director of Operations, Operations Supervisors and Growth to determine quantity of labor required for each event. Places labor calls for non convention center events.
  • Submits time sheets to payroll for all union employees when required.
  • Assists with ensuring projections are input and accurate in the LBT, as well as assist with managing the system.
  • Compiles employee warning notices/incident reports to track the progressive discipline status for both show site and warehouse.
  • Coordinates and tracks all union out of town travel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Strong communication, organizational, motivational, and delegation skills.
  • Three to five years experience in show site operations.
  • Minimum two years of management experience.
  • Union experience required.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to relate and conduct theoretical discussions as applicable to specific technical topics.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems quickly and effectively.
